Sharon Terry, deeply saddened at the news of John’s death, shared,

“John Walsh was a giant in the advocacy community. I met him 22 years ago when he founded his organization, a year after mine. He was bullish on the voice of the people being factored into research. We crusaded together on many an occasion. I learned a great deal from him and always enjoyed his sharp focus and enormous energy. John received the Genetic Alliance Art of Advocacy Award in 2008 at our annual meeting. John was a strong supporter of our fight to get the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act passed, as were many other Alpha-1 advocates. I can’t quite believe he is gone, this leaves a big hole in the advocacy community and in my heart.”
