What is a rejected application and why is it important in drug development?

A rejected application is an IND, NDA or BLA that is rejected by the FDA. Application can be rejected if they fail to provide evidence that the investigational compound is safe or effective. The FDA might also require supplemental information or further study before deciding to accept or reject the application.
