New Director of Genetics and Health Policy Joins Genetic Alliance

WASHINGTON – November 14, 2008 – Kristi Zonno, M.S., C.G.C., has been appointed Director of Genetics and Health Policy. Kristi has more than a decade of experience in health policy, genetics, and public health. This newly created role will integrate policy throughout all Genetic Alliance programs and interactions with stakeholders throughout the community.

“Kristi is a dedicated professional, with an excellent record of improving health systems and services through genetics,” said James O’Leary, Chief Operating Office at Genetic Alliance. “We know she will contribute to transforming health through the integration of public policy. We are excited to have her as a member of our team.”

Prior to joining Genetic Alliance, Kristi worked as a program manager for the Rhode Island Newborn Screening Program. She has also worked as a pediatric and adult genetic counselor, and in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries as a clinical researcher. Kristi is a former member of the Board of Directors for the New England Regional Genetics Group.

Kristi graduated from Providence College with a bachelor’s degree in biology, before earning a certificate in clinical research from Boston University. She also earned a Master of Science in genetic counseling at Arcadia University and is a board certified genetic counselor.
