Genetic Alliance Strengthens Internal Leadership
Natasha F. Bonhomme Promoted to Director of Strategic Development and Accepts Council Position

WASHINGTON – December 3, 2008 – The Genetic Alliance, announced today that Natasha Bonhomme has been promoted to Director of Strategic Development. In this new position, Natasha will oversee development in is broadest sense – nurturing the organization internally and externally to maximize its full potential.

Director of Strategic Development is a position created to explore and reveal the diverse opportunities for growth within the community and to bring those opportunities into critical alignment. “Natasha models the best of this new position. She embodies our commitment to novel partnerships with individuals, organizations, and communities,” said Sharon Terry, President and CEO at Genetic Alliance, with whom she will work closely. “Natasha is steward of our organizational connectivity with both internal and external stakeholders.”

Natasha holds open space for both the creativity and the focus of Genetic Alliance, and increases open dialogue with stakeholders. She is also responsible for improving accessibility to organizational resources. For the past two years she has led Genetic Alliance’s newborn screening initiatives, and will continue to enable informed decision making in this new role. She also leads the Consumer Task Force on Newborn Screening. In addition to this promotion, Natasha joins the Genetic Alliance Council. In addition to performing all of the duties of a typical board, the Council enables each individual to commit to transformation on all levels, leading to a vital and dynamic channel for growth for the organization. Natasha supports a desire to make the various dynamic processes of the Council and organization accessible to the entire community.

Earlier in her career she coordinated projects related to early childhood education and pediatric care health policy at the Georgetown University Center on Health and Education. A graduate of Boston College, Natasha earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a pre-medical concentration.

Natasha currently serves on the Newborn Screening and Genetics in Public Health Association of Public Health Laboratories, the Advisory Committee for Human Genome Hispanic Outreach Initiative, and the Community Health Planning and Policy Development Dialogue work group of the American Public Health Association.
