General Position Overview

Genetic Alliance is seeking a motivated, self-directed professional to manage our genetics resources and services programs.  In this position, the manager will guide the development and implementation of projects focused on information and resources designed to empower individuals, families, and communities to make informed decisions about their health. The position includes a great deal of interaction with partner organizations, including but not limited to disease advocacy organizations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a suite of online databases and tools managed by Genetic Alliance, including the expansion of Disease InfoSearch, with intensive focus on outreach to disease-specific advocacy organizations
  • Manage the National Consumer Center for Genetics Resources and Services, including launch of its major components: a website and related digital tools for pubic education on genetics
  • Collaborate on completion of Congenital Conditions grant
  • Supervise and will oversee interns and work-study students
  • Manage the grants associated with education and information projects
  • Collaborate on other programmatic work that benefit from the individual’s area of expertise, e.g., content development, writing, publishing, engagement with genetic counseling students
  • Facilitate meetings with external partners

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in genetic counseling, social work, public health or related health field
  • Three to five years of relevant experience
  • Superior oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent program management skills
  • Work independently and in teams
  • Commitment to the mission and culture of Genetic Alliance.  
  • Commitment to personal growth and the growth of colleagues.
