WORKSHOPS: Session IV
Saturday, July 18, 2009

This workshop will delve into the ethical, theological, and political influences on genetics and genomics. Presenters will provide an overview of the following: 1) medical ethics, including an overview of Christian, Jewish, and Muslim perspectives on emerging genetics research and technology; 2) impacts of theological beliefs on federal health and genetics policy; and 3) current national dialogue about ethical/theological issues in genetics. Following the review of the implications of ethical, theological, and political systems on genetics, the facilitators will lead an interactive discussion on how to move from discussing the intersections of religion and technology in your own home or community to having a discussion in broad social environments.
