Open Access: What It Means for Research

Open Access: What It Means for Research

WORKSHOPS: Session I
Saturday, July 18, 2009
9:00 AM - 10:30 AM

Research funders worldwide have adopted policies to ensure scientists and the public have free online access to peer-reviewed journal articles resulting from the research they fund. Open public access expands the potential use of research findings, speeds discovery, and opens new research avenues. This workshop will examine such policies; how government and nonprofit funders are addressing copyright, publishing, and author compliance issues; the role of the National Library of Medicine’s PubMed Central; and emerging open-access journal publishing models.

Presenters:
Sophia Colamarino — Vice President for Research, Autism Speaks
