Thalia Williams is the Maternal and Child Health Program Manager at Genetic Alliance. She manages the design and implementation of maternal and child health initiatives such as the Baby's First Test program, which includes its website, BabysFirstTest.org, the Nation's newborn screening clearinghouse.
Thalia brings over eight years of administrative, community-based, management, research, and advocacy experience to the Genetic Alliance team. She received her Bachelors of Arts (B.A.) in Public Communications with minors in Marketing and Sociology from The American University in Washington DC. Thalia further developed her knowledge and skill sets in these fields through her work experience at top public relations and marketing firms. She received her Masters in Public Health (MPH) with a concentration in Community Health and Prevention from Drexel University School of Public Health (DUSPH) in Philadelphia, PA. At DUSPH, Thalia worked on health communication and education initiatives that focused on youth violence prevention, and improving maternal, child, and reproductive health in community settings. Prior to joining Genetic Alliance, Thalia worked as a Federal contractor for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. She worked on a number of community-based and research contracts which focused on underage drinking prevention, drug treatment, and promoting healthy marriages and responsible fatherhood. Thalia is also a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES).
