Alicia Santiago, PhD Alicia Santiago serves as the Senior Science Research Educator for Self Reliance Foundation. She manages several of the Self Reliance Foundation’s science and health-focused-media projects and is responsible for the development, implementation, and delivery of innovative science education and community outreach programs. In addition, she provides informational support for the ConCiencia science newswire service, where she works on the development of science news stories and ensures the accuracy of their content. Prior to this position, she worked as a research scientist in the Developmental Neurobiology Laboratory at the Salk Institute in La Jolla, CA. Alicia is an accomplished research scientist who holds a PhD in Cell and Developmental Biology from the University of California, Davis. She earned her BS in Biology from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) in Mexico City, where she was born and raised. She has recieved numerous scholarship awards and conducted research and published several articles in the fields of developmental neurobiology, genetics, and cell biology. |
