Carol Greene, PhD Dr. Carol Greene, PhD, (MD Albert Einstein 1977, pediatric residency Children’s Hospital of LA 1980, and genetics Stanford 1983) is board-certified in Pediatrics, Clinical Genetics, and Clinical Cytogenetics. From 1983 to 1987, she was faculty at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA. From 1987 to 2000, while on faculty at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and The Children’s Hospital of Denver, she directed the Metabolic Diseases Clinic, and for seven years chaired the Colorado Newborn Screening Advisory Committee. In 1999, she was the ASHG/AAAS Fellow and worked on the health staff of the Senate HELP Committee. From 2000 to 2004, she divided her time between: health policy as an analyst on the staff of Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation in DHHS, clinical metabolism at the Children’s National Medical Center in D.C. Since August 2004, she has been at the University of Maryland as Professor of Pediatrics and of OB/GYN. She is director of the pediatric genetics clinic, providing services for all types of genetic conditions on wards and in clinic, and co-director of the adult genetics clinic. She is active in various professional societies and currently serves as a member of the Board and Program Chair of the Society for Inherited Metabolic Disorders. Carol is a member of the federal Clinical Laboratory Improvement Advisory Committee (CLIAC), which provides the Secretary of HHS with advice regarding laboratory practice, and serves on committees for the ACMG and for HRSA. |
