Vaughn Edelson

Vaughn Edelson joined Genetic Alliance in 2007. She focuses on communicating health and genetics topics to diverse audiences. Vaughn oversees Genetic Alliance’s family health history initiatives, including the promotion of family health history collection and education in HRSA-funded health centers and the online, customizable Does It Run In the Family? toolkit. She manages the writing and editing processes at Genetic Alliance and collaborates with the communications team on announcements and publications. She coordinates Genetic Alliance's integration of science and the arts, including the annual Gene Screen: A Night of Film on Health and Genetics. She also chairs the in-office Health Club. Through her work, Vaughn makes genetics accessible and relatable for the lay public, and helps health and genetics professionals keep their subject fun and fresh.
Vaughn earned a BA in Biology from Brown University, where she worked with Rhode Island Legal Services to create educational outreach materials on environmental justice to inform at-risk community members of their rights. Her passion for health extends to fitness: In 2005, she rode a bicycle across the U.S. to raise money for Habitat for Humanity. She is also a fitness instructor and personal trainer.
