Support Increased Funds to Federal Health Programs
On March 5, 2009, the Senate presented President Obama with a five-day continuing resolution to allow additional debate on the spending provisions included in the Fiscal Year 2009 Omnibus Appropriations Bill. The 2009 fiscal year began for the US government on October 1, 2008, but it has continued to operate at fiscal year 2008 levels due to lack of consensus surrounding 2009 spending at the conclusion of FY08. To ensure our federal health agencies have adequate funding to improve our healthcare system, the Senate must approve the FY09 Omnibus Appropriations Bill and expand the foundation upon which we will build and transform systems. If the Senate does not agree on new spending levels, the flat level funding to our nation’s health programs will continue.
The five-day continuing resolution expires March 11, 2009. Please contact your Senators TODAY, either by phone or email, and let them know how important increased funding for federal health agencies is to you and your family, work, and community.
