Tetyana MurzaTetyana Murza
Chief Operating Officer

Tetyana (Tanya) Murza joined Genetic Alliance in 2007. Tanya is  Genetic Alliance's ‘chief problem solver’, resolving ad-hoc challenges that arise, developing and implementing solutions that work. Tanya serves as Project Director, Operations Director, and Administrative Official for multiple projects, funded through agreements with federal government, foundations, and pharma and bio companies. She served as Project Manager for Community Engaged Network for All (CENA), a network of 10 disease advocacy organizations (DAOs) and part of PCORnet network since 2013. CENA provided methods and tools to empower people to be full participants in the research enterprise, work with a variety of stakeholders to prioritize research questions and drive new studies to alleviate suffering in their own communities. She’s been integral part of the development of Program for Engaging Everyone Responsibly (PEER) and Disease Infosearch (DIS), managing awards from HRSA, CDC, NIH, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, PhRMA, Sanofi, and PCORI. As Operations Director for PCORnet Coordinating Center, she oversaw and streamlined operations and budgets for Genetic Alliance’s functions within the PCORnet CC.

Tanya also plays a critical role in organization’s fundraising efforts, pursuing foundation funding, partnership work and harmonizing our corporate support. She has successfully overseen Genetic Alliance's conferences, summits, online webinars, Advocates Partnership Program, and other signature events for more than a decade.

Coming new to a field of health and Genetic Alliance in 2007, Tanya’s passion for enabling access to health information and technology grew exponentially, heightened by the death of her husband of pancreatic cancer in 2015. Tanya received Master of Environmental Studies from the Evergreen State College and MS in Environmental Engineering from the Ukrainian State University of Water Management and Natural Resource Applications. Her previous work experience includes more than ten years in the nonprofit sector with environmental organizations on energy and environmental issues in Eastern and Central Europe. Tanya grew up, lived, and worked in Ukraine until she moved to the USA in 2007. Her life is brightened by the presence of her two lovely daughters.
