Assistant Director, Policy and Advocacy

As Assistant Director of Policy and Advocacy, Ariana Brannigan leads federal and state public policy initiatives within Genetic Alliance. She is passionate about advocating for families and access to healthcare. She worked previously as the Environmental Health Campaign Director at MomsRising, and the Executive Director at NARAL Pro-Choice Maryland. She also served as Executive Producer of PBS' News Analysis program To The Contrary where she covered Capitol Hill.

Ariana also represents Bethesda, Chevy Chase and Potomac in the Maryland General Assembly. She serves on the Healthcare committee, and Chairs the Health Occupations and Long Term Care Subcommittee, and the Joint Committee on Children, Youth, and Families. She also serves on the Joint Committee on Federal Relations and as Deputy Majority Whip. In addition, she represents Maryland on the National Conference of State Legislatures Health and Human Services Committee.

Ariana has championed legislation to advance access to care for children, low-income families, and seniors. She has served on the Board of Directors for NASHA, the National Association for Speech Hearing Action. She is also the recipient of the National Healthy Teen Network Spirit of Service Award, as well as awards from the Mental Health Association of Maryland, the Maryland Psychological Association, NARAL Pro-Choice Maryland, Pathfinders for Autism, and the National Center for Children and Families.

In her free time, Ariana loves to travel and hang out with her daughter Maeve and her son Leo.
